Research in partnership with business is increasingly being encouraged by public authorities. This close link with the business world is particularly important for an engineering school in all its dimensions, including research.

Partnerships with businesses in progress or completed after 2009, involving PhD students and/or post-doctoral students: Janssen, Rhodia, Damart, Tractebel-Suez , RTE, Hispano Suiza, Converteam: (bought by GE), Auchan, Eiffage EnergIE, EDF, SNCF, SEOLIS (with GEREDIS, SAINTRONIC and Maia Eolis), GB Solar and Siemens.

Several projects have been certified by the following regional competitiveness centres

  • I-Trans (Innovative transport)
  • Up-Tex (Advanced and poly-sensory textile materials)
  • Maud (Materials and Applications for Sustainable Use)
  • S2E2 (Smart Electricity) in the Centre Region
  • Active participation in the outstanding centre of the Nord Pas-de-Calais region entitled Management of the Energy Demand of Electrical Equipment (MEDEE) by managing two research programmes (MEDEE6 & 7).

Partner of 2 European Crosstexnet projects

– FLUTEX, design and development of a multi-layer fire-retardant textile structure to improve the distribution and dissemination of liquids of fire PPE, in collaboration with DUFLOT, AND, Damart, Sioen NV-Apparel division, Fibertec and the ENSAIT.

Others

Several projects are supported by ADEME ([French] Agency for the environment and energy management) and the Nord Pas-de-Calais Region.

In the framework of HEI’s activity within L2EP, the electrical engineering part of HEI has been associated with the Carnot ARTS grouping together the ParisTech School of Arts and Crafts network, whose Lille Centre is a partner of the L2EP.
