Junia HEI trains the engineers of tomorrow

Discover how the history of Junia HEI shapes the future of the world.

About HEI

HEI was founded in Lille in 1885 by the Industrial Leaders of Northern France to meet the high demand for engineering skills during the local industrial boom at the end of the 19th century. HEI has since extended its activities to training multi-disciplinary engineers who share a curiosity for the world and are managers with a future-facing, international mindset.

135 Years of Excellence

With over 135 years of experience in engineering training, HEI remains a graduate and post-graduate reference for engineers and executives. In addition, HEI has extended its activities to industrial applied research and development and providing extension services to the business world, including technology transfer.

HEI reveals individual talents and insights by coaching each and every student in the design and planning of their personal and professional objectives; enhancing learning outcomes in line with the needs, expectations, and requirements of the global economic world.

HEI’s close collaboration with private business and industry enables the applied knowledge and creativity of students to create competitive advantages for themselves and the businesses they work for by fostering innovation and developing competency at all levels.

The 6 Pillars of an HEI Education

Innovation at the Heart of Campus

While proud of our history as a grande école, HEI is today firmly turned toward the future. With two modern and open campuses in Lille and Chateauroux, Fab Labs, innovative teaching methods (flipped classrooms, serious games, site visits, networking...), HEI is at the cutting edge of our different fields. Our faculty support students in constructing their own personal and career goals in relation to companies’ expectations.

Close Industrial Connections

Working closely with business partners to give students hands-on learning opportunities through problem-solving projects, site visits and guest lectures, HEI assures the employability of our alumni.

International Outlook

HEI’s global outlook starts with language learning and courses offered in English and expands to mandatory international experiences for every HEI student. Through academic exchange, internship periods abroad, and welcoming international students and visiting professors, HEI students are accustomed to working in multicultural teams and approaching issues with an international mindset.

Training Enriched with Research

HEI also makes a point of developing students’ critical thinking. Research is omnipresent at HEI: in projects, internships, double degree opportunities, or through doctoral work.

Campus and Facilities

The school has two campuses to house its teaching, research and business transfer activities.

HEI Lille

In the heart of the student area, the main building on rue de Toul is home to the educational activities of the engineering programme (classrooms, teaching laboratories, amphitheatres etc.) for nearly 1300 students.

The second site on rue Colbert, is a new building overlooking the city, less than a kilometre away from the main campus.

The main building of 5,000 m2 was refurbished in 2009 and offers an attractive and high-quality working environment featuring the latest ICT equipment.

The research laboratories are in a third building next door.

Two HEI student residences are located nearby (residence Saint-Omer opposite the historic building) and the residence Saint-Joseph in rue Colson. The premises are dedicated to community life and contribute to HEI’s strong associative school spirit.

HEI Centre

In the heart of Europe and in the centre of France, Châteauroux is located in the Centre region and is the capital city of the Indre department. The development and the restructuring of the city give Châteauroux an outstanding natural setting and a recognized quality of life, and less than 100km from the world-famous castles of the Loire valley. The area enjoys a diversified industrial fabric with the presence of important sectors, such as aerospace, automotive, agri-foodstuffs, cosmetics production, etc.

Chateauroux (HEI Centre) offers exceptional facilities for training and R&D activities (mechatronics laboratory).

International

Today, HEI has a rich network of International Partners, and robust mobility programs for students, faculty, and staff.
